AB101: Vets can Administer and Recommend CBD

Summary: Veterinarians in Nevada can recommend CBD products to pet owners without any disciplinary consequences as of October 1, 2020. Assembly Bill No. 101 states that a licensed veterinarian may administer a CBD or hemp product to an animal if the product's THC concentration is less than .3 percent dry weight, by means other than inhalation to treat a condition. Veterinarians may also recommend CBD products to pet owners for treatment purposes. When the veterinarian administers or makes this recommendation to the owner of the animal, the Nevada State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners cannot take any disciplinary action against the licensed veterinarian or the facility where the veterinarian works.
